I have had my 2013 JCW hardtop for 6 months now. It does not have NAV or Mini connected just standard bluetooth. Last sunday when driving I received text message on my cell phone, my car audio paused and I hear something like "Message received from xxxxxxxx...." then asked me to select from following options.... "read it, ignore.. etc"... all of this was coming from my Mini's speakers (really surprised as it never happened before)... anyways I said "Read it" and it did read out whole message and then gave me an option if I want to send a reply to which I ignored. Then soon I received another text from a friend and again audio paused and I hear all these options but this time when I said "Read it" bluetooth didn't get it. Also, after few minutes when I made a call via bluetooth my frnd was not able to hear me at all.. seems like mic stopped working (it has always worked fine before).


I have had my phone paired right from the first day and never before did it read out any text messages via bluetooth. I dont think it is even suppose to do that as I didn't read anything of this sort in car manual.

After I got back home had some test SMSs sent to my phone to see if I can still get Mini's blutooth read those out to me but to my dissasppointment nothing :( Seems like after I turned off car it wasn't doing that anymore.. I am sure some malfunction in bluetooth system enabled this hidden feature ...

Is there a way I can permanently enable it? Even that stupid voice command button is a dud and doesn't work on 2013s without NAV & Connected option.
