Best Tires other than stock. Anyone??
Hello everyone. I have an 03 MCS with stock 17's. I'm not running the stock run flats for they are terrible. Currently I'm running cooper tires. At first they were great tires but as recent as a month ago I rotated the tires and now I'm experiencing real bad road noise. Can anyone chime in as to what brand tires are better?? Tires that are smooth, all season, all weather high performance that don't have much road noise. Your inputs are appreciated thanks!!
Thanks Braminator. I use my MCS as a work car and travels quite a few times to the northeast when I do work contracts so that's why I specified all season. I will look into those tires though
The best all season tire as per reviews and many years of use on my MINI in the NE PA/NY area is the Continental DWS. They are great in the snow. I used several sets until I moved to Florida 3 months ago. When my DWS ware out I will get either of the 2 I suggested.

I live in Florida and really like the BF GOODRICH g-Force T/A KDW2 my are 205/45ZR16's. BF Goodrich lists them as an Ultra High Performance Summer tire which makes them perfect for a year round tire here in Florida. They can be a little loud on some road surfaces but as a friend says ya just have ta crank up the volume on your stereo. In exchange you get furious grip in the wet and dry.
After two other sets of tires (runflats and non) I've finally got a set of tires that are quiet and give a very comfortable ride in my 2004 MCS.
Michelin rates them a 10 in wear life and comfort. http://www.michelinman.com/tire-sele...formance-sport
I'm using Goodyear Eagle GT's. They were pretty good in the snow, great in the rain, and even better in the dry! The only downside is the reinforced sidewalls, can be a little noisy, but nothing compared to the runflats. And they have a lip guard!
Can't say enough good things about the Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. They are absolutely phenomenal in any weather out there. Nice and grippy in the dry, wear well, and snow and ice traction is almost that of a dedicated winter tire. They're also extremely quiet and comfortable at any speed. The only downside I've seen is that the sidewall is fairly weak so curbing can damage the sidewall and wear it away faster than other tires out there, but that can be easily fixed by simply not running into curbs
Since you're looking for an all-season tire, I would recommend the Contintental ExtremeContact DWS.
If you feel like a summer tire though since you live in Florida, I'd then recommend the Continental DW, which I personally have on my MINI. Low road noise, and great grip, and for the price, they're a good value tire.
