What's up with the K&N replacement air filter

Quick & dirty, because I already posted the sordid details in the Paceman forum ...

I purchased on Amazon the K&N air filter per the part number that's listed for the Paceman on the K&N site. It was the totally wrong part -- different part and picture from the Countryman, and not even close to the correct size. Sent it back, then ordered the part number that's listed for the Countryman, assuming there's a good chance that they're both the same (assuming, because I have not been able to find any place else that specifically lists a Paceman air filter). Well, I was half right -- they are both the same, which is the only good news in all of this. But half wrong, because the filter listed for the Countryman doesn't fit either the Countryman or the Paceman. It's too long, and appears to be about 1/4" too narrow. I'm sure I've seen a few posts here from people who have put them in a Countryman. Anybody else have difficulties with the fit? Have people had better luck with the aFe? Is it even worth the extra expense over stock?

What part # did you order? Mine fit perfect in the r60s. I think it was 33-2936.

33-2386, per the K&N site:
http://www.knfilters.com/search/apps...an&engine=1.6L

Here's the one they list for the Paceman, which isn't even close:
http://www.knfilters.com/search/apps...an&engine=1.6L

I've been putting K&N's on my cars and trucks for years, and they've always fit as advertised. Until now.

Oh crap. I just now see that they have a different number for the Cooper S Countryman from the Justa Countryman. That's my bad.
But the thing they have listed for the Paceman is still totally on them.

.
So the CM and CMS has different cabin filters?

@Eds not-so-red MINI
I saw your signature? Are you sure that's not a Surf Blue CM and not a Cosmic Blue? I have the Surf Blue and it looks exactly like that. The Cosmic was much darker if I remember.

Great selection with the black roof and dark anthacrite rims. I did the same with my own.

Well that was a LOT of info. And yes, it's very helpful -- thank you!

Modest little 'duh' moment on my part. Because the K&N site only listed one Paceman (and it's wrong), I didn't even think to look to see if there was a second Countryman listed and incorrectly assumed it was the same part for all models.

What? I don't know what you're talking about. My sig clearly says Surf Blue (now).

(Yes, you're right -- it's my wife's, and as usual I wasn't paying attention.)

That's what happened to be one of the few at the dealer at the time that was equipped the way she wanted it. She pulled a Kramer on the test drive with that very car and brought it back to the dealer on fumes. It was obviously meant to be. But thanks for the compliments -- it's kind of a rare color combination, but she loves it. I'm not entirely displeased with it myself.

You are welcome , yes I hope that clears it up visually. I know you found out after the fact. But now Paceman and Countryman owners will know : thumbsup:

Ha. I must have missed that ;-) I was going to do Cosmic blue but decided I had went conservative on my last 04 MINI with Pure Silver and wanted to really change it up this time. The Surf Blue really is a great color. It changes it's blue/green tone depending on the sunlight. Thought the was kinda cool.

@ECSTuning - Ahhhh. I probably would have noticed if I looked at the diagram. Doh! Great info nonetheless which I am sure will pay off down the line. Are

Are the intake filter replacements as easy on the Countryman as they are on the MC hardtops? I remember reading that the dealer was charging people $120+ for a filter swap
