Help.....? Please.

I have an '03 Cooper S and
Well, I was driving the Mini and it was like someone turned off the key. Error po335. CPS sensor. I replaced the sensor and cleared the code, reset the ECU and still no start. The code is gone, I unplug the sensor and after two cranking sessions of 10 seconds each, code can be forced. Re connect the sensor, clear the ECU and it will crank and no code no mater how many times or how long I crank.
I have power to the coil pack but no spark. no other codes. While connected to my scanner, I cked for RPM. No RPM during cranking. I have continuity at the coil and the new sensor.
Whats next?

Disconnect it and see if you have the same problem.

Also the coil should be controlled on the ground side. If its not getting rpms. That says there is definitely a problem with either your new sensor as lame as that may be. The wires to the ecu or the ecu its self. I would exchange that sensor if I could for peace of mind :(

I ran a wireing pin out, all good. Tried another sensor, still nothing. Took a close look at the old sensor and the head is damaged.
Catastrofic failure......... Half of the reluctor ring is missing.
It's in the oil pan............................................... ..............
