I was considering the 6 CD changer for the boot, but balked at the $700 price tag. Then I noticed on EBay a guy selling the unit for BuyItNow of $300. Claims that is is just plug & play via the prewired system. Any thoughts? If it's really that easy, I can save $400. Alternatively, are there aftermarket CD changers that would be installed for a similarly lower price?

UPDATE: I E-mailed the seller and he responded as follows:

the CD changer is really that simple. it will come with everything needed
for installation. it will come with mounting instructions. just mount the
CD changer and plug it in

I paid the dealer price, and it took them under 15 minutes to install.

Wish I had bought it on eBay.

I got my CD changer from E-bay... It's a BMW OEM model cost: $340.00... Works GREAT just plug and play. All the wheel controls work as described in the manual. However, I wish we could slect discs via the wheel controls instead of the radio pre set keys. Also, does anyone know what if any function the middle left push botton steering wheel audio button has??? There is nothing in the manual about it... Thanks... I LOVE MY MINI...

I have a factory BMW cd changer in my closet. I took it out of my M3 when I upgraded the system.

If anyone wants it - i'll sell it to them for $250.

I'll go home and take some digital pics of it and post them. It has all the hardware - mounting brackets and cover.

email me at kapolani@hotmail.com if interested.

Gonna try to install it today while deep frying a turkey out by the garage. I'll let you know how it works.
