I got my Countryman today and have 2 questions
Hi, All. I have been reading the threads here in the last few months, very useful informations. I finally got my 2013 Countryman today and noticed 2 things:
1. In Auto Transmission, when you put to "Park", the "P" letter still lights up in Red even I shut off the engine and everything, is that normal?
2. My 2013 the boot area, they removed that flat loading board cover thing, and the dealer said it is not even an option now to add that on, I am not too crazy about to have a hole there, anyone has any idea?
3. My production has those new letterings, but I have them removed it right away and they did not charge me. ; )
Thanks.

Congrats in the new CM.
1. I can't answer because I have a manual CM.
2. If you have the rear bucket seat option then you get a standard floor. If you have the rear bench seat option then you don't get any floor and there will be a hold in the trunk. With either option you can add the flat load floor as an option for $250 when you build the car. It seems they sell an retrofit kit for the flat floor but it is pricey to get all the parts and install it. There was one person on this forum that manage to install the kit but he had a hard time getting all the screws to fit. My parts dept quoted me for $750 for parts alone.
3. My car production month was 02/2013 so I don't have the lettering but it's good to hear that the dealer would remove them at no charge.

I have heard rumors removing the flat floor is do to an issue with the rear seat latches. the dealer is required remove it before selling the car even if it was not put in at the factory.
Should be a boon for aftermarket sellers if this is the case. Did they drop the charge for it off your invoice?

With regard to the load floor, my 2012 Countryman has it (I have the rear bucket seats). Supposedly, the seat latch excuse is just a rumor (It's not the seat latch, by the way - It's the LATCH system(Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children). If you can find someone with a Countryman locally who has the flat load floor, you can use it to trace the pattern on a 3/4" piece of plywood, and then cover it with automotive carpet. It will be a lot less expensive!
Thanks for the info. I found out that if you lock your car, then the "P' light will go away after several mins. But if you keep the car unlock, the "P" stays on. Thing like this is very hard to find the answer on the user manual. Kind a different since all my cars before don't do that.

I actually has the JCW version. It supposed to come with the flat load floor. However, I think if you have the production comes with those "Countryman" letters, they also changed the design of the truck area. So putting the flat load floor is not an option anymore. There was another JCW version in the lot, that one was before my production date, so no ugly letterings and did come with the load floor. The argument was, Mini said customers complaint about they need more room, so they took it out, but the fact is, even if you have the load floor, it is removable, so what is wrong about it?
As far as the removing letterings, the dealer was charging me at first, I said I did not order the car came with this before, and the sales guy Matt worked it out and dropped the charge. Great guy to work with.
Also, 2013 don't comes with the Car Jack as well, but Matt also nice enough to throw one in for me "Free". Again, people says you have run flats, you don't need it, well, all cars should come with the Jack, when the day you need it, you will know that is just not cool.
Personally, I think Mini is taking out the things we might need and adding the stuff not necessary (or done it in a wrong way). The thing is, you might be surprised on the day you get your new car and find out that changes Mini has made without notify you or even the dealership.
Regardless, so far I just want to enjoy the car even it is an Auto, I dove a stick for many years before, life style has changed, so I am fine with the Auto. Now I am waiting for the break in period before I can really have some fun. : )

Sorry for the confusion. Let me make it simple. Those are come with the Countryman lettering production would not come with the flat load board, even JCW version. Mini changed the trunk design and it is not an option to add on according to the dealership yesterday. So in a way, I got ripped off. : (

I agree with them changing things mid production year with no notification but then again you have the right to not take delivery of the car if it doesn't meet your requirements. If they keep your deposit at least its a small loss compared to the whole price of the entire car.
The confusions was from this "I actually has the JCW version. It supposed to come with the flat load floor." I too have the JCW and it did not come with the flat load floor. I cant remember the cost but it was definitely an option. That is why I was asking the questions.
I am sad I didn't get the flat load floor. I thought it was just for the bucket seats and the bench would come with the cover, but it didn't. I *don't* like stuff lying around in my car if not necessary (I keep my interior *very* clutter free) and I would love to hide the first aid kit, jumper cables, etc under a cover in indent in the boot.
I need to find someone handy to make a cover for me.

Picked up my CMS last week. It has the COUNTRYMAN lettering on the back. Ordered with bench seat and flat load floor option. This has been discussed MANY times before, but to reiterate, the flat load floor option that comes with the bench seat is basically the panel that covers the hole in the boot. That panel, which costs bench seat owners an additional $250, is standard/free when ordered with bucket seats. That said, the $250 flat load floor option for bucket seat owners is a second, separate panel, which bench seats owners cannot get.
So to the 2013 Countryman owners w/COUNTRYMAN lettering in this thread, are you saying you ordered your car with bucket seats with the flat floor option (in your case, the second, separate panel) but did not receive the panel?

I have thebbench seat, but didn't order the flat-fold floor (misunderstood what it meant for the bench seat). Now I wish I had, just to cover the well in the floor, to hide stuff like the first aid kit, jumper cables, etc.
I am going to look into DKIKK77's suggestion of going to a stereo shop to have something made.

I think it is BS. Thye had an issue with the child restraint tie downs located under the flat floor and deleted the the flat load floor. Also if they put in retrofit it would still be an issue with the child restraints or they are in the way, they look bigger(grinder would fix that) but of course dealer can't grind off safety items.
I sent a note to my new MA today. Figure out a way to put in a flat floor or I invoke the design change clause in my deposit agreement. I agreeded to buy all of the parts if they would install. My old MA went over to Posche/Audi dealer and I may get a Q5 or 3.6L Cayenne if I can't work something out with Mini.

Are you implying that the flat load floor is standard/free on all JCWs? If so, I think you are mistaken. I went to the MINI online configurator for a JCW Countryman and the flat load floor is a $250 option. Just like the Cooper S and Justa.
lat load floor in US is not an option at any cost on a CM. Still an option in most of rhe rest of the world.
It is still in configurator but dealer cannot order now, all of us with orders had the factory delete it. Same change as tramp stamp on BOOT which still doesn't show up in configurator.
Same question asked above. Answer was no. We all ordered and included the $250 cost. Mini simply deleted the option via design change.

I think you meant: from here on, the "flat load floor (the panel which blocks the space between the bucket seats, specific only to CM w/bucket seats) in US is [no longer] an option at any cost on a [bucket seat] CM." If this is true, then MINI definitely needs to update their website! I hope future bucket seats CM owners will chime in.
I can confirm that my 2013 CM (w/COUNTRYMAN lettering) came with bench seats and its specific flat load floor option (the panel that covers the hole in the boot).
