Extended warranty...

Hi. Thanks for useful posts everyone.
I had been reading lots of infos here...incl. extended warranty discussion.
I am wondering...since I will be ordering PacemanS, will it be smart/worth
it to get the extended warranty??
I am little worried about getting 1st gen model...as some mentioned in older
posts...
(I won't be using it for long commute or anything...mainly for running errands
and maybe some weekend road trips...)

What are your thoughts??

Thanx for ur time...

IMO, you're better off saving the money. Paceman is a new model, but it's still using all the standard MINI components. And with the regular warranty, you've got three years for them to sort out any teething issues.

Personally, I get nervous having any car beyond its warranty. Since I get tired of cars after two years, I only lease for 3. The $1895 plus tax is an expense you need to consider with how long you expect to keep the car. If up to 100,000 miles, then it might be a very wise decision. I hear Mini repairs without warranty assistance are very expensive.

You have up until just before the warranty runs out to get it - 4 years 50,000 miles if I remember correctley. Then if you change your mind after that they charge you something like $250 to examine your car, and if they can't find any problems will sell you the extended warranty - at least that is what they told me. We had all our problems fixed under the original warranty and since we don't drive it much I didn't buy it. But if it makes you sleep better at night - get it.

Thanks everyone for your two cents!
I think...I can justify not getting it right away...
I don't think I will be driving that much and so the original warranty
that comes with the car should be enough.
Like CA94960 stated, I think I wil consider adding some when that
runs out...

In 4yr or 50k miles you will have a better idea of how that particular car is going to treat you in the long haul. Good idea on waiting.
