Weather band radio

If I enable this , what does it do?

Ie, is it just NOAA weather, and does the mini boost stock radio have it?

Another member on this forum tried to activate this on my '12 R56 JCW +Connected w/Nav and we had no luck getting it to activate. He ran thru the sequence a couple of times, and had no luck doing it.
