Anyone cover their door inserts with leather?

It's great that we can order leather dash toppers to cover the 2 acres of 1995 Geo Metro plastic that otherwise dominates the view from the front seats of an R5X, but has anyone taken it a step further in the aftermarket by covering the inside of the doors?

How about the downtubes on the center stack? Anyone wrap those? I'd love to see pictures of any interiors that have been dressed up.

Well, I feel a bit dumb. I've glanced at their website a while back, but didn't notice that they had door panels and downtube stuff. If I'm honest, the pictures don't look that brilliant to me. Everything looks a bit...lumpy?

I think the level of lumpy is based on installer skill. For parts like the door pads you have to use spray adhesive on the OEM part, so you have to get it right on the first try. Unfortunately there's not much chance to practice first.

Redlinegoods is great to work with if you want them to make new pieces like door inserts or Gen2 downtube wraps (I worked with them to make the colorline wrap). You have to ship them the part so they can make a pattern from it, and if you write up installation instructions for them they'll give you your piece for free. I think I'd be more likely to find a local interior shop and pay them to do the whole thing, so that a) it was being done by someone with experience and b) I could hold them accountable if they didn't install it to my standards.

Agreed on the install part. If you can install it once I'm sure its relatively easy to make some adjustments to get the fitment just right. Parts are a bargain to what an interior shop will usually charge.

For the R50 R52 R53 the JCW Down tubes are still available.

This is for first generation MINIs. There fit and finish is very good.

Yes.

The quality is very good.

There was a matching R50 R52 R53 JCW Leather Dash also 7/2004- Three piece.

Reminds me of the new JCW GP 2 Dash trim.

You can see where the JCW red stitching got its start.
