New designed clutch installed in my 2012 All4

Ordered and received my 2012 All4 in June. Live in Fl. One of the few All4 down here. Driven manuals for 40 years. Had trouble immediately with breaking inertia in first gear. Got used to feathering throttle to start off. Saw BMW announcement of redesign. Filed a complaint with MINI USA. Not until Feb. 2013 did my dealer have any info from BMW about redesigned replacement clutch. Mid Feb. BMW listed part No. on dealer parts computer.

Dealer installed all new clutch including new clutch petal spring end of Feb.

Wow!!!!! Drives like a manual should. Even tech. at dealer couldn't believe quality of the redesign.

Dealer was fantastic about assisting me in getting new clutch to me at no cost.

Never accused me of not knowing how to drive.

BMW should have treated this as a recall!

I am having the same problem with my clutch. I'm also in South Florida, which dealer did you go to and what did you say to them?

Vista, Coconut Creek. Lead Mini tech. on 3rd visit test drove and confirmed - Clutch disc has insufficient holding ability - found clutch shudders when taking off from a stop.

Good luck, Mike

Got a 2012 manual CM as a loaner and it is much nicer than the 2011 I test drove. Hopefully they swap out those old ones since it feels like a significant difference. I wouldn't hold my breath, however...
