MINI on Speed channel

On April 1st at 7pm the will be a new episode of R U Faster than a Redneck on the Speed Channel. One of the racers that tries to be faster than a Redneck is running a woman racing a MINI. Should be pretty good. A MINI against high horsepower American Muscle.

Good, someone else saw the preview! I don't have TV, saw it elsewhere. Look forward to a report.

So she called herself Car Chick (LeeAnn) on the show out of Charlotte NC driving Maggie. She made it to the final round beating the 1st two rednecks and having a faster time than the other driver to make it to the 3rd round, and all she had on Maggie were suspension upgrades, and not much it looked like. I looked for a Car Chick but did not see anyone with that forum name. Anyone know her? She did good, but the show cheated and threw a high horspower truck (500 HP) at her to beat her.

It was hard to tell by the way that the show was edited, but IMHO Car Chick would have won the third round if she had taken better lines through the curves. She stayed on the course well for the first two rounds, but had trouble on the last. It was unfair to pair her with that 500HP truck, it just had too great an advantage on the straight-a-ways.

This episode caught my attention because of the MINI, but I'm not likely to give it another view. I much prefer Wheeler Dealers!

If you watched closely she also fumbled a shift. The only mod I could see was strut defenders.

IMO, she did not embarrass herself or her MINI. What was embarrassing was all the B. S. between takes. Sure am glad I had recorded the thing so I could fast forward thru everything except the three or four minutes of why we watched in the first place. I'll not be returning to that show for dang sure but it was fun to watch that wee racer whup up on those bozos.

Ya'll know this show is basically an add for Year One, right?

Is that all? Today's television is getting to be nothing more than a huge ad for anyone who can afford to put their product on the screen. I timed one commercial break at 5 minutes 30 seconds one evening and one ad was shown twice during that time. Rant over, I'll sip a wee dram, take a nap and feel better soon.

Well, this is why I don't waste time or money on TV! Thanks for suffering folks. I would think an equally modified MINI would have spanked whatever, but you can't beat horsepower.

One time, when I was doing track time, had a dice with a tricked out 1957 Chevy pickup that was built like a NASTRUCK (?). I saw him coming up behind me on the drag strip part, so let him by before the end. He could not shake me on the corners. But when we got to the drag strip, he blew my doors off. (Firebird Raceway, Phoenix, middle track)
