2013 Mini GP with sticky clutch
2013 Mini GP with sticky clutch
Hello
I got my car back in January (am located in Abu Dhabi, UAE)
I drove the car without going full throttle till I completed 2000km for the break in period. As soon as I was done with the break in, I accelerated using full throttle and was surprised to find out that the clutch sticks to the floor for a brief moment and then comes back again (well,it feels as if something is not letting the clutch pedal come back up).
It only happens at full throttle and it is really irritating. I tried it several times and it kept doing it at high rpm wot shifts (not power shifting)
When I got home, the car had some smoke come out from the engine compartment towards the passenger side light.
Also,
When I reverse and then stop and push in the clutch, the rpm seems to wonder up and down. Very strange feeling and not linear.
Anyhow,
I took the car to my dealership and they flushed the fluid, still same thing.
They then ordered me a new clutch and I just had it installed.
When I came to pick it up, my service advisor told me that it is still doing the same thing!!! They asked me to drive it for 1000-1500km to see if it gets any better.
The car has a strong clutch and I do not get any kind of issues when I accelerate. It just happens that when I want to accelerate hard, the clutch pedal would come back slower than normal on wot.
It's getting on my nerves.
Other than the very touching brakes, this car has been great.
Anyone have any issues with clutch or pedals not coming back up?
My guess is that the clutch master and slave cylinders might need replacing. Maybe even the clutch pedal spring.
Confused.
Any help is appreciated
Shihab

Shihab,
Did you ever find a solution? Mine does the same thing. It happens for me in hard acceleration but not all the time. Maybe 4-5 times this past weekend I noticed my foot as it released the clutch pedal straight up that the pedal was slower than my release. The pedal hit my foot at the top of the release. So sticking and very slow on the return.
Let me know what you found if anything.
Thanks Darren

Clutch delay valve issue?
This is normal. The ECU will slightly raise RPM as the clutch is engaged. I suppose it is designed to help prevent stalling.
