'13 MCS dirty oil at 5K

Have a '13 MCS with ~5K so far. Engine oil seems a lot dirtier than I would have expected. The computer says service is due in only 2K more miles. I also have an '05 MCS and the oil stays cleaner longer and also the service intervals are consistently at 18,000K. Is this the difference between turbo and supercharger?

a 13 with only 5k on the clock and the computer says change in 2,000 more???

hmmmmmmmmm

I had an 02-S and then bought an 07-S and the interval was still WAY more than 7,000 by the computer . . .

There are rumors they cut the interval to 10,000 by the factory but 7????

but don't forget that color is a poor indicator given that oil - esp synth' oil - will change color due to being heated ... and MINI runs hot.

Once you know your car color might help, it does for me on my 79 - but on the 07, my oil gets darker by the third week....

I think they have a shorter time/less mileage for the initial oil change. Something should be in the maintenance book you received on the car.

MINI/BMW changed oil interval in the system to 8-10k or per year. Seems about right.

Also, you can't tell squat by the color of the oil. The only way to tell how dirty oil is would be with an analysis. Color can change due to heat alone.

I'm not sure, but new cars may be sold with breakin oil in them. I change my oil in a new car after a few thousand miles and then again in a few thousand. Then start at what ever interval you will use.
