R55 Clubman Audio Upgrade

Hi all, after owning cars with the following sound systems I wanted to upgrade the stock setup in my Clubman as its not up to much when compared to them:

Previous Setups:
R53:
- Front Speakers - Focal 165V 6.5" Components + tweeters.
- Rear Speakers - Focal 690CA 6x9's
- 10" Kenwood subwoofer
- Auto Acoustics Stealth Box
- Kenwood amp for subwoofer
- Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD motorised DVD screen with Bluetooth and iPod integration
R56:
- HiFi Stereo system
Qashqai:
- BOSE Stereo system which included a BOSE subwoofer in the spare wheel

Current Standard Setup (Taken from NAM):
2009 MINI Clubman JCW with stock stereo, full bluetooth and rear parking sensors
- 4 channels
- 6 loudspeakers
• 2 mid-range loudspeakers in front, 100 mm [~4 inch]
• 2 bass loudspeakers in front, 150 mm [~6 inch]
• 2 bass loudspeakers in rear, 6 x 9"
- Bandwidth: 50 Hz to 14,000 Hz
- Max. acoustic pressure 98 dB
- Amplifier power: depends on radio,
- 4 x 15 W (4 Ohm)

Future Plans
Im not after a competition setup. I know Mikey @ newministuff offers an upgrade but I wanted to see what the options were. I will also fit it all myself, as I have done with previous cars.
- Channel Swap
- 6x9's in the rear door cards
- 10cm coaxial speakers in the upper front door
- 13cm Component speakers in the lower front door, with tweeters either i A pillar
- Amplifier of some sort for speakers lower speakers and 6x9
- Amplifier for wheel well subwoof
- 10" sub mounted in the wheel well
- New stereo loom to allow amp connection
- Sound deadening

Not sure on brands yet, I was very impress with the Focal speakers in my R53 even, with the sub removed there was more than enough base from the 6x9s.

Outstanding questions

1) Is the standard headunit any good with aftermarket parts? Is it worth spending all this money and keeping the stock headunit? In any other car I would change the head unit, but with it intergrated into the speedo it seems a shame to ruin the look.

Im sure there will be plenty of questions on this and I will keep this thread updated with hints and tips as I pick them up.

The lower boot floor cover has been replaced with a vented one & under this we have and angled build containing 10" subwoofer & 1000 watt amplifier

I swapped the channels today, and it was like night and day. So much better. Do that first and then decide what else you need.
