R50/53 Cooling Fan Run On
Cooling Fan Run On
My 02 S came home last night with the fan running, and it wouldn't shut off. The wife removed the battery post, and when I got home several hours later and re-attached the cable, the fan came back on. Looking through forums, the wife found that this is a slightly common problem, and the easy fix is to tap on the fan relay......first off all, I work in the parts department of a dealership and have been most my life. Here is the problem I ran into, and I hope it helps some of you.
The fix (on several posts and different forums) is to tap the relay pack on the left side of the fan shroud. I could not find such item on the left side, I did find it on the passenger side (after I told my wife she was looking in the wrong area, so now I owe her an apology). So for those **** parts guys, like me, the relay pack is on the RIGHT side of the fan shroud, for my wife, it's the left side
A few taps, and apology and the fan shut off. Since she drives my car more than myself (gas mileage reasons, as her truck sucks the gas and I only drive 20 miles a day) I had her do the tap fix, so she knows what to do in case it happens again.
Happy Motoring
