Off Road Tires
Off Road Tires
Has anyone put an aggressive off road tire on their Mini stock rims? How did it look? I am about to buy a Countryman All4 but the JCW rims and low profile tires that are on it don't suit the vehicle. I think a simple stock black rim with an aggressive looking tire would suit the Countryman much better.
I totally want to do this as soon as I have some extra $$$. One person had the perfect set up for sale not too long ago, and it was an excellent price, imo.
I'm thinking smaller rims to support a more aggressive tire size? (I have 17s)
The Dakar winner this year had an awesome car--and the tires were incredible!

Bob,
it has been done, but you will need a lift kit and/or wheel well mods to make big tires fit
see coopercrap web site or detroit tuned web site for lift kit
i put 205/70R16 winter tires on mini european oem alloy 16" wheels with no rubbing without the lift kit
see ecs tuning web site for 16" oem wheels, either steel or alloy
i went with oem wheels so no centering rings would be needed, so the offset would be correct and the oem lug bolts could be used
with the 225/45R18s, my speedo is 1.9 mph higher than gps speed
with the 205/70R16s, my speedo is 0.6 mph lower than gps speed
i gained about 3/4" ground clearance
i have the sport suspension, 10mm lower than the stock suspension
205/75R16 tires rubbed
215/70R16 tires rubbed
225/45R18 on the left, 205/70R16 on the right

225/45R18s on the car

205/70R16s on the car

What aggressive off road tire where you going to use?
Something like a Rally tire?
They are expensive and don't always come in good sizes.

Or perhaps a truck tire?
