R56 2011 Brake Force Display
2011 Brake Force Display
This seems like it should be standard on the LCI taillights. I was following a R57 today that had the center turn signal light up with the brake lights almost every time they came to a stop from 30+mph.
Here's an example of what it should look like
In the video it looks like the thin ring around the turn signal lights up but I don't see how this is possible. There are no individual bulbs for that section, it is just illuminated with the turn signal bulb. Here's what my taillight circuit board looks like. There are only 4 LEDs on there which are for the halos in the taillight.

This R57 I was following had the entire turn signal bulb on both sides of the car light up and stay illuminated while braking but not every time they braked.
There's THIS thread that has people talking about it but nobody ever concluded anything.
And when poking around in the FRM module of NCS Expert, there are many, many refrences to BFD which I'm assuming means brake force display.
MINI's Canadian website even specifically talks about this feature.

Does anyone know anything about this and how to go about enabling it? I've sat in a parking lot while watching the a reflection of my boot while slamming on the brakes and I got nothing. In gear, out of gear, pulling the e-brake, coming to a stop quickly; nothing made my BFD lights come on.

Did you add the LED bulbs to your car?
I just looked in the brochure and my owners manual for my 2013 MCS and it mentions nothing of this feature.
The owners manual only stated the tail lamp ( the center circle light ) was an LED bulb. It didn't say the others were like in your taillight.

Yeah the three LED bulbs are ones I put in.
There has to be some way to enable this in the computer. It looks like Canadian cars have it enabled from the factory. Plus I saw that one car in person doing it.

Here's another view (at 2:40)
