Fogs or not?

My 2013 MINI Copper Hardtop has lights down in the lower valence which look just like the fogs did on my 2010 Clubman. Half of them come on when I switch on the lights. Should the other section light up as Fogs? I don't seem to have a switch either unless its been relocated and I can't find it. I'v e scoured the manual but ...am I missing something?

Yes, if your car has the option. Look in the Lamps section of your Owner's Manual. Front and rear fog toggles are alongside the door lock (center) toggle. If one or both are missing, it isn't on your car.

Correct I have no switch but it looks like I have the lamps....that's what's puzzling me.

I suspect all you have is parking lights. The overall diameter of the light housing is the same with or without the fogs. You can always double check by removing the access cover in the wheel well and looking at the back of the lamps.

My understanding: the 'lens' is a feature of the GEN2 design and on the S where the fogs are standard equip, or on a Justa where you ordered fog, the larger portion is actually connected and has a bulb (and a switch). On a Justa without fogs you just have a pretty piece of glass

this is as compared to the GEN1 fog location where if you did not have the option you got a plastic filler piece....

What he said... When I ordered my '13 I made sure to order the fogs. If no switch, no fogs.

FWIW, if you just want the fogs you can add them yourself without too much trouble. I bought mine used on eBay for about $50. A switch can be mounted on the knee bolster in the spot used for the oem driving lights and you won't need to get the dealer involve with reprogramming to install the oem switch down on the central console.

Well I have the "fog" lights, and don't bother. They are completely useless for anything other than looking like an airplane with the landing lights on. As far as I'm concerned, they are only an aesthetic addition. Not functional at all.

Sorry, but I disagree. I find them very useful around my neighborhood at night for illuminating the sides of the road particularly at corners. I don't use them on the open road unless there really is fog.

I find them very useful. I live out in a more rural area and get fog in the low lying area often. I think they do a great job.
