Up and died

Driving home from work on interstate, car just died no sputter just stopped. Pulled over and smelled fuel. Upon opening hood found the vacume line off the fuel pressure regulator, hooked back up no start but fuel leaking, so I assume the pressure regulator is toast. Any suggestions?

From: Perth West Australia in an industrial unit with my numerous cars.
Get a mate to unscrew the FPR and stand statue still when the unit releases. Push the car straight back about 8'. Pry the defective unit out of his hand and put the new one in his grip (the same way up). Roll the car forward 8'. Get you mate to screw the new one in as it should be right over the hole. Tighten into place and refit vacuum hose.

That should fix it. (Sorry: Could not resist it. What other answer could be expected???)
