Love my MINI...PICS
So I have owned it for 4 months now...and I think I got a winner. She runs great , looks great and brings a smile everytime I drive her. As you can see she can also store quite a bit
... She is very quick and nimble..although she runs out of breath up top...she has a good powerband in the middle.. Good on gas and easy to park...

Very nicely kept motor! Get your hands on everything you need either from Octaneguy (Richard) at http://www.showcardetailing.com/ or Griot's Garage at http://www.griotsgarage.com/ and submit yourself to becoming OCD about detailing to keep it looking like it does in that 1st picture. Here are some other links to help get you started.

Congrats! I agree, these cars are a hoot.
Probably the biggest deviation to do from what is recommended in the owner's manual is to change your oil every 5,000 to 7,000 miles and skip the longer intervals that most manufacturers (including MINI) have been going to.
I'm a new MINI owner too.
I've been through the following cars for a daily driver:
Two Honda Civic Si's
2007 VW GTi
2002 Boxster
2008 Boxster
2006 911
I can honestly say that this base, stripped, El'Cheapo economy car is probably the most fun to drive car I've ever owned outside of the two air cooled Porsche 911's I've owned (one I have yet).
Enjoy!

To get the most out of a set of tires, you should also rotate tire position about every 5K miles too. The rear wheels are set at a negative camber which will cause some uneven wear on the inside tread. Directional tires are just front to back same side. Non directional you can cross back to front and front straight back.
