2 Minis on the I605 North in LA...
...and we were FLYING!
Easily the most fun I've had in the Mini since I bought it. Merged off the 405 North onto I605 in Seal Beach. Noticed a black Clubman with a Thule luggage pod on top also merging. As we cleared the construction area, I put my foot to the floor. And so did Mr. Clubman. Straight shot up the 605 for a good 7-8 miles, hardly any traffic, and no Po-Po.
I'm not going to say where I topped out ( i see you, po-po lurker) but it was *much faster than I expected the Countryman to go, even with the ecu tuned. Pretty sure the CLubman had exhaust and CAI.
Damn that was fun.

I can't remember the last time I drove 65mph, lol. Maybe 25 yeas ago when I was 16 and driving a jeep in Alabama. That was way too fast for a CJ to be moving through a peanut field.

I used to drive daily this route before a transfer from LA to OC. I know the exact transition ramp you were on and can attest it is very inviting. But having said that, be careful. The CHP is using radar and the penalty for going 100+ is draconian, at best. Also, those guys are working the toll roads. OK, really want to know your rpm's during this adventure.
It's rare that I go on that section of the 605. I live in South OC and work in South Gate (Lynwood/Compton), so mostly I go 5N > 91W > 605 N > 105W > 710 to Imperial. There is very little opportunity to mash the pedal, especially with daily commuter traffic on that route. =/
20 mph over the limit is an impound and trip to the local. I do run radar, not that it would help on a quick flip. To be completely honest, I only looked down a couple times in the short 7 or 8 mile run. I could hear it winding out, then it would downshift momentarily and recover a little speed then wind out again. VERY surprised considering I have the fatty All4.

I've been 160mph on a motorcycle. Scared the crap out of me. I dont know that I would want to be in a Mini going that fast, lol.
