What's my service light mean?
Just bought a Mini (26,300 miles) and the service light came on and has a date of 01/13 (this month). My last service according to CarFax was on 08/12 and approximately 2500 miles ago.
According to CarFax, this last service, at a Mini dealer, apparently consisted of the following:
- Trim Checked
- Battery/charging system/starter checked
- Brake fluid flushed/changed
- Brakes checked
- Oil and filter changed
- Cabin air filter replaced
- Front brake rotor(s) replaced
- Recommended maint performed
- Front brakes serviced
- Rear brakes serviced/adjusted
- Tire condition/pressure checked
What do you think I'll need to have done at the dealer only 5 months/2500 miles from what seems like fairly extensive service? Just an expensive oil change/visual look over?

I have learned to read the manual! My car needs a Vehicle Check...can anyone elaborate.?
I have found good instructions on resetting it, but does the dealer actually do anything? The $145 quoted to look over the vehicle seems a lil steep...I feel like I should at least get some oil for that price.
---spoke to my dealer--- he described it as a safety check/visual inspection only on the car: lights, seatbelts, etc (not a very hard sell when those are the items the service advisor calls out specifically)
I'm thinking I'll do an oil change at the 6 month mark and just reset this. Any thoughts? Am I making sense?

Our dealer has a policy of doing services which are likely to be needed in 3 (or maybe 4) months. I thought that was MINI's policy.
Which service did it start wanting?

turns out it was only yellow. So it was brake lights/vehicle drive system/fuel supply
Went to to confirm the light was still on, and it isn't on anymore.. i ran the car around my neighborhood and its gone.
I have a blue tooth obd code reader and there are zero codes on the car at same time the code was on.
