Cheap and efficient way to transport my Mini?

Let me tell you the whole story. Yesterday I got in an "accident" and hit another car. If you wanna know the whole story about the accident, its on my recent posts. Anyway the accident happened in Laredo, Texas but I technically live in San Antonio, Texas (they are approximately 130 miles from each other which is approximately 2 hours of travel time). The insurance won't take care of the transport so they told me that I have to somehow get the car to San Antonio so it can get repaired or whatnot. Should I ask someone with a truck? The wrecker that brought my car to my house on the day of the accident told me he can do it for me but I have to check with him first on how much it will cost. Any ideas?

I'm assuming it's mostly freeway. In which case, get a proper tow. Do not get a tethered tow by someone with a truck. Towing shouldn't cost you more than $150-200 for 2 hours. Alternatively, get the repair shop where you're getting the repair done to tow it back(some shops have their own tow trucks and do it for free if they're doing the work, especially if insurance is covering the bill).

Time is not the factor, mileage is. They charge a fee plus mileage. Are there no shops that are local that can repair your MINI? Ask the shop that you want it repaired by if they can get it.

Also for future reference get AAA . It's cheap and have saved my A$$ many times in lockouts, dead batteries, tows and the like. I've been a customer since 1986 and they are tops in my book!

I doubt that your insurance company cares whether the car is repaired in Laredo or SA. Why not just repair it in Laredo and save the expense of the tow?

UPDATE***

The reason why I don't want my car to get repaired in Laredo because I don't trust any mechanics there. There is not even a MINI dealer there so I highly doubt they have experience, especially for our cars. Anyway my parents already hired someone to bring it there and I can visit my car today in the collision center. Thanks to everyone anyway!

Glad it worked out and you were able to get it to the shop of your choice. It is nice to be able to check in on it during the repair process.

Next time.... Pay to tow 30ish miles then use AAA to tow 100 (covered in 55$ annual premium roadside package) then you only pay for the 30 miles. ;-)

Atleast it worked out!!
