R60 Countryman Mixup
Countryman Mixup
So these jackasses at the dealership sold me a countryman and then a week later call me telling me they filled out all the paperwork wrong and "sold me the wrong car". Put the wrong vin on all the paperwork. My question... What does one ask for for such lax attention to detail and ruining my weekend plans to rush back to fix the problem? Don't have many options on it. Sirius? Extended warranty? Thanks for any help.

Welcome aboard anyway and good luck.

next time around unless they really fix this.
Good to know. Loving the countryman aside from the paperwork problems.
When it is straightened out, post some pics and welcome to your new family, The MINIacs. Also always remember to wave even if you don't get one back. Also your face will hurt from always smiling.
I was def wondering about that. My friend had a WRX and they always had like a head nod thing. Thought there would be a mini type acknowledgment.
I guess you could mess with them a bit. Maybe tell them you are quite busy but you will make time for them if they schedule an appointment, bring all the new corrected paperwork and come to you.
Or you could tell them that you have a "Doc Fee" for your costs/time to come and resign paperwork. Maybe your Doc Fee is the same amount they charged you for the Doc Fee".
But knowing the car business, your *** is probably in trouble with his management for letting this happen. And maybe is a good guy just trying to make a living and made an accidental mistake. Anything you might argue and get in compensation...wouldn't be surprised if they take it out of his pay.
I would probably just let it go and not make a big deal about it. I would let the dealership know when I could be there and ask them to please have everything ready so this can be correctled quickly so you can be on your way.

I'd agree with Finner. If it was a clerical error, they should meet you somewhere to your liking to fix. I'm pushing 50 and have bought quite a few cars, I've had this happen once, where the error had to be fixed, but more than once I've had a check sent to me because there was a math error on trade in, a fee reversed or something like that, some times it goes your way other times id doesn't people make honest mistakes.
It worked out. The car we actually got was more expensive than the one we signed for and he offered to buy us dinner. Seemed fair to me .
When I first read this subject, the first thing I thought was a scam or bait-and-switch was in the works.
