Only active when ECU does not see airbag? Read more: http://www.*********************

Hello again MINI masters!

I have my stock seats out of my car and am ready to start tackling the electronic modifications to trick the ECU into seeing the airbags, passenger seat weight sensor, seat belt latch...etc. I have heard that once the ECU sees a fault with the airbag that the warning will not go away even when the airbag is reconnected to be tricked with an equal resistive load. It then MUST be reset by the BMW Technic tool. Is this true?

I'm worried about a resistor being just slightly out of tolerance and me getting screwed with a perpetual light. Kind of defeats the purpose of the project.

Peake tech was selling a mini compatible airbag tool (looked like an odb2, but was NOT the same) that could reset the airbag light on gen1 cars, and gen1 cars can be tricked with the proper resotor, then reset....on gen2 not so sure, but atleast this post will get you a bump...

Guess the mgt blanked out your link.....

Here's another bump. Try asking Ducks over at minitorque or motoringunderground. He should very well be able to help you.

Just got the answer I was looking for on MA. Once it is tripped, it MUST be reset even if a resistor is placed in the airbags place later.

B200 and B800 airbag reset tools are cheap but I think they only work on gen 1 MINIs.
