I have a 2011 Justa and this being my first Mini, I am new to the key holding the information about the car.

My question is this. I carry one key and leave one as a spare at home. When my wife drives the car she uses the spare key. I have my preferences set up on my key, how do I get the spare key to have the same preferences? Or is this really necessary? I gather that the service information, that is downloaded at the dealer when I bring it in, are written into the key when I put it into the slot. Are my preferences also written into the key as well?
