R60 Dumped the Run Flats!
Dumped the Run Flats!
After achieving 27,000 miles of moderately careful driving on the 18" run flats, I finally replaced them with "regular" tires. This is probably nothing new, but the run flats were horrible. Their ride was awful and resulted in some unsafe reaction to rough roads. I found they floated over irregularities, and if I wasn't paying attention, I could find myself dodging into the lane to my right.
The replacement tires are Michelin Primacy MXM4. I immediately noticed a difference. In fact, when I backed the car off the hoist in the tire store, they produced a remarkable difference. These tires have ratings of 9 and 10 in all the categories of tire performance. And, my wife is now a happy passenger. The bottom line, I was quoted $1699 to replace my run flats with the same tire by my dealer. I spent $824 including full hazard insurance on the new ones.

RF are horrible on rough roads and make car jump up and down, left and right.
Not a nice feeling...
I've replaced mine after 1 year with normal winter tires (Michelin Primacy Alpin) and it feels like driving completely different car.

Replacement All Season Tire Options (non-runflat) for OEM 17 inch wheels
Hi All:
Question for everyone out there, do you have any recommendations for all season replacement tires (non-runflat) for OEM Countryman 17'' wheels?
TireRack doesn't seem to show much of anything in the All Season range of tire choices that will fit.
I purchased our 2012 Countryman S All4 with 17'' wheels thinking the ride would be better but it never occurred to me that the choice in replacement tires would be worse than for 18''. We are looking to purchase replacement tires in the next 2-3 months and can't wait to dump the runflats.
Thanks in advance for your input!
Mike

too late for the OP, but i raised the tire pressures to 42 psi front / 36 psi rear on my 225/45R18 pirelli p7 summer runflats with great results
the ride got smoother, compliance got better, handling improved, the tires are wearing evenly both across the tread of each tire and front to rear
i believe the stock pressures are too low, increased the pressure on my dad's cms all4 with 205/55R17 pirelli p7 all-seasons to 38 psi front / 34 psi rear with similar results
i used a tire pyrometer to arrive at the pressures
