what kind of oil filter?

Hey guys- I've tried searching on here, but the phone app is limited and nothing came up. For those of you who change your own oil, what oil filter do you guys use for your JCW? What would be preferred?

Thanks

ONLY use an OEM MINI oil filter. There have been many bad experiences over the years from the use of aftermarket oil filters on MINI's.

No need for tracking down parts we have em here:
http://www.waymotorworks.com/oem-oil...5-r56-r57.html

Only use OEM filters, we've seen most aftermarket filters don't fit correctly.

Déjà vu!

i remember this exact question from the 1970s only it was bmw /5 and /6 motorcycles and mann filters

mann filters appearred on the scene and were 1/2 the price of the bmw oem filter that was made by perolator, $2 instead of $4

within 6 weeks, the shop i was working in had 9 engines needing major repair, all due to either or both of crankshaft main bearings or rod big end bearings failing

all of them had mann filters installed by the owner

all of the mann filters had failed and blocked oil flow

i will never use a mann filter

Locally, even the OEM MINI oil isn't that expensive, compared to the recommended alternatives. Surprised me.

On BMW's they are what I use. On MINIs they didn't fit as well as OEM and the Orings seemed to be more prone to failure.
