What Temp Range should my 2006 Mini be running at?

1st Mini owner (2006 r50)

My temperature guage is running right in the middle between cold and hot. Seems like it's running slightly hot?

What does your temp guage run at? Is halfway too hot? I just had the water pump replaced due to a leak but no improvement.

Thanks

Unless you have the chrono pack, the gauge only shows 3 settings: cold, warm, overheating.

If you want to know the exact temp, get a scangauge or an ultragauge

Hmmm I will double check the type of guage. It appears to be a standard temp guage with a needle. Thanks for the tip

Using my ultra gauge I can tell you...when the gauge first moves above cold the coolant is ~80* F ... it first hits the middle section "normal temp" at ~160F and continues to sit there up until ????
The highest I've seen since I got the ultra gauge is 205ish and it was still sitting in the exact same spot on the temperature gauge. Hell, when I was testing my fans it made it up to 220ish (converted from the onboard "secret menu" readout) and the gauge was still in the middle.

Thanks this helps alot. I'm used to seeing the needle on my Honda Civic sit at about 1/3 of the stock temp guage vs. 1/2.
