R56 tire replacement and alignment tomorrow
tire replacement and alignment tomorrow
I researched some ads and found out good deal from firestone.
anyway, i'm planning to replace two rear tires and rotate them to front. the question is that now I'm using continental tires but If I replace to bridgestone for two tires. would it be okay?
these are what I'm going to buy

and also the alignment needs to be fixed.. about a year ago, i went to local good year service and they messed up alignment. I think mini or bmw alignment is hard job to be fixed. where is the good place to fix the alignment? firestone is okay? Happy thanksgiving guys!!!

What type of driving do you do? For me and for my purposes with the Mini, I would not want mismatched tires. If you do, make sure the tire with the most traction are in the rear. If not the rear could slide out on you......
It would be better to have all four tires match.
Also, the mini calls for a loaded alignment - full tank of gas and
weights on the seats. I assume the dealer does this, since, well,
they are the dealer and it is $150.
I went to the ASE certified shop I normally go to and asked about if they
do the alignment how they will compensate for the loaded alignment.
They said they would work it out.
I actually trust this shop the mechanics are paid by the hour not the job,
so no incentive to rush. But I did decide to bite the bullet and just go to
the dealer.

There is no answer for the OP. Nobody knows if it will be ok with 2 pair of different tires. Tread design, load ratings, construction are all different. You may be fine, it may behave like a Real housewife of Atlanta...
There is nothing, NOTHING special about aligning a MINI or a BMW. YEs they call for weight to be in the car, because that's how you usually drive it. I just get someone in the drivers seat with a 1/2 tanks of gas, and call it a day.
In dront only toe is adjustable, (uness you have camber plates, and if you have them, you shouldn't be going to a Goodyear shop for alignments...)
In the rear, camber and toe. Set camber first, then toe. Done. But any monkey with an alignment rack should be able to do it...
And as for tires, wuit being a cheap ***, buy a set of matched tires.

On my 08 MCS, the dealer replaced 2 tires. The problem was that they did not realize that the two tires on the rear were runflats and the new fronts were not. The car was evil handling.
For $162 you did not get runflats, but it sounds like a decent deal. if your conti's are runflats, you probably have noticed already that the handling is different. If the conti's are not runflats, then you are probably fine.

According to the sheet, everything looks OK. The rear toe was messed up before, which would make the car turn left different than turning right. The printout is the same as the Hunter machine that my local dealer has, and I have had no issues with alignment from them.
Since you are not happy now, give us some background. What year/model is the car, what size tires, are the conti's runflats?
