I have a large data plan on my iPad and the smallest (200MB) plan on my iPhone 5. When my Coupe arrives with Mini Connected and NAV I'd prefer to use the iPad for everything because it has the 30 pin connector so no adaptation is required, and I have huge amounts of data on at plan. If I use the iPhone for streaming musicI'll blow past my monthly limit in a few days.

The only hitch is that Id like to be able to make calls in the car hands-free. Can the iPad be connected to the 30-pin while the iPhone is simultaneously connected via Bluetooth for calls? If so, I'll be just fine. If not, I may need to make calls via Skype on the iPad.

As the bluetooh and the USB connector work on different technologies you can do that. Just make sure you only pair the iPhone to the bluetooth and not the iPad and conversly only connect the iPad to the USB.

That is awesome. Thanks!

Does that mean the iPad with 30-pin connector will send iPod output to the MINI screen?

Which device will use Siri or is voice calling done via the car's native system instead of Siri?

You will be able to do either. Steering wheel voice control needs to be programmed separately and is saved in the car, Siri can be used if you pick up the phone and activate as normal.
