Vin is Faulty Message in NCS Expert

Hey guys. The dealer recently reset something in my car and my coding was all gone afterwards. So I loaded everything up on my spare laptop as I did with my old laptop with NCS before it got stolen. But I'm running into a Vin is faulty message (pic attached). This is after updating to ediabas 7.2 with v46 datens and NCS exper v.3.1. I've tried older datens as well from as old as v32 but still no luck. Any hints? Thanks!

After a year since the last time I played around with NCSExpert, and an hour lost, I got this same error message and then remembered an old post of mine.

I my case, I needed to uninstall BMW Tools and get a "later" version.

Never got back to this thread but updating the version did not help unless I did the process wrong?
