R50/53 stupid question....How hard is it to install driving (Rally) lights?
stupid question....How hard is it to install driving (Rally) lights?
I am wanting to install the fancy little driving (Rally) lights on BOO...First I need to find a set (complete set with all items including wiring)...Also is there a switch to install also or do I use the light/turn signal stalk in the mini?...Any help on a used complete set would be helpful......Also is there a place on here on a DIY for the driving (rally) lights?....Thanks snowman
I just got done doing a alta light bar install with 4 hella 500ffs. It was alot harder than I thought it was going to be the bumper and hardware part was easy, but for some reason the wiring was a pain. If you go the alta route be sure to triple check where you mount them to the bumper. For some reason they did not give measurements.
factory kit instructions here

IMO the factory kit is overly complicated but is a useful reference for the brackets if nothing else. If you are not going to use a sep' 'light bar' the factory brackets are the best way to go IMO with any decent third party kit that tickles your fancy
Factory brackets can be had from outmotoring last time I looked.

beside that, search, there's been a number of threads on this over the years - pro and con of factory over third party; wiring issues such as interconnection to the high beams
you add a switch either way - all you need is a simple toggle for on/off
I've installed many sets, factory and third party sets, any specific ? feel free to PM

I added 4 lights to the bonnet grille. the brackets for the lights were a straightforward installation. just measure, fit, measure again before doing any cutting in the grille. a relay is required for sure. I put mine in the open space behind the air filter housing. you can get power from the positive power take off beside the battery. don't forget to put a fuse between power and relay. my mcs is a sport model with driving lights installed in the bumper carrier. I got the trigger for the relay from the power wire to the left driving light. installed this way no additional toggle is needed. the new lights turn on with the driving light switch on the switch panel. works great. I can e-mail photos of what I did if you need additional info. or pm me
