Int door panel pealing

With out warning, film that adheres to the trim that houses the interior grab handle on my drivers door, began pealing from it's surface. Looks like loose saran wrap. What a bummer. The interior trim panel costs BIG bucks. Has anyone ever dealt This this problem, or suggest a fix? Thanks, Jim 2002 MCS.
