Was the 6-speed Aisin offered before the 2006 model S? Or were they all Midlands before that year?

 

The aisin is an auto. The midlands is the 5spd manual found in the R50.

 

Does anyone have info on what automatic transmission was offered before 2006 on a R53? I remember, I had to wait til 2006 to get my wife's R53 cuz they didn't have it in auto. We're trying to clarify this at work since someone found a 2005 R53 in automatic and I said it might be a different transmission. I don't know if Midland did an automatic before.

 

I believe in 05 they switched to the aisin. Before that they had the CVT I believe..

 

yes...my 05 mcs automatic is the aisin 6 speed with paddle shifters

 

The r53 was STICK ONLY till 2005.
The cvt was on the r50.
The rR3 has either a manual getrag 6 speed stick or the auto assin (starting in 2005).
the r50 had a cvt or 5 speed midlands...it was changed to a 5 speed getrag in (i think) 2005 or 2006.....
