Aero Side Skirts Help!!
Hi all,
Im soon to get aero skirts for my Cooper S and I want to know if the entry chrome strip on the stock S skirts (strip that says MINI Cooper S) will fit exactly onto the aero side skirts?
Also will I need new clips? and what clips?
Thanks

Pardon my ignorance, but are these the JCW side skirts?

I don't know if you plan on trying to re-use your chrome strips, but they are usually held on with double sided tape. When I removed my stock side skirts, I had to bend the heck out the sill strips to get them off, and to access the clips that help hold on the skirts.

Cooper entry strip
I tried to put one of those on my door sill since it's only held by double side tape but it looks funny just floating there. Unlike the original placement where it is in a recessed section meant for it. So I just left it out. Looks cleaner. Just be aware not to step on it or your sill will get scratched.

I upgraded to the JCW sideskirts and wanted to salvage the silver strips. They were tough to remove from the original skirts, but I did with minimal bending. First I took an exacto knife, inserted it between strip and side skirt and ran the blade the length of the strips on both sides. Then I used a 1" chisel to pry the strips off, they came off easy because the exacto blade worked for the depth it could get under the strips. After removing, used a good amount of Goo Be Gone to get the double-sided tape off the strip. Yes, the new JCW skirts don' have the recessed part to give a good indication of where to retape the strip, so I measured the points of where the strips were on the old skirts and then adhered them to the JCW skirts. No problem with them getting in the way of the doors when closing. With my freshly painted Hyper Blue skirts, the strips really "pop" and I am glad that I salvaged them. Sooner or later I will share a few pics., the project inlcuded painting the rest of the black trim (arches and bumpers) Hyper Blue--I love the change
