Up for sale is a skid plate for first generation MINI Cooper / Cooper S (R50 and R53) 2002-2006. This skid plate helps to protect the under side of the engine bay (oil pan, power steering, ect). Retail is $137. This plate comes without hardware; the bolts (6 i think) can be picked up at a local hardware store, and the plate mounts directly to holes in the existing frame.

Just a word of warning. Use 'Never-Seize' on all of the bolts into the frame.

steel skid plate
Well it is actually 22.5 lbs and the best money I have spent for protection on the mini. It has saved my car 3 times. 1)came around a corner mini style faster than I should, someones muffler in the middle of the lane car coming the other way centered it drove over it no damage. 2) Neighbor auto xing for the first time went off track into giggle weeds high centered on skid plate no major damage just scuffed bumper. 3) Wife spun out on ice smacked center curb/planter strip skid plate buckled absorbed lot of the impact.
