In addition to the good looks, sweet ride and exceptional handling some of us "senior citizens" have additional uses in mind for an MC. Being "senior citizens", one of our recreational activities is spending time out traveling in our motor home. After a test drive at Brecht (San Diego) one question we had was can the MC be flat towed (all 4 wheels on the ground) behind a motorhome. After the sales associate ran around behind the scenes for a while, she returned and told us that yes, it can be.

Does anyone know if this is really true? We can't find any literature on the net to confirm and with Brechts reputation for "sales" I don't want to assume that they are correct.

I wouldn't flat tow any car. A front wheel lift minimum for a
front wheel drive car.

I tow my MCS behind my motor home but I have a custom built trailer that weights 490 lb. I use the tiedown locations that MINI uses for shipping and have the special hooks with web straps. A custom bra without the cutouts protects the front end from damage while towing. This setup is slightly more trouble than flat towing but I also have the advantage of having electric brakes and avoid the 17,000 miles that I put on the MH every year. The trailer is only 14ft long and has been towed at 85mph at times. My rig is shown on page 65 of Members Minis or drop me a private message for more photos.

Daddio,
My husband and I also plan on towing our MINI behind our 30 ft Class A Damon Daybreak. What we plan on doing is, at the very least, renting or buying a tow dolly to pick up the front wheels.

We recently looked into towing our Honda Accord Wagon and we found in the owner's manual, a way to tow the car with all four on the ground. But, there is a procedure to go through. (in other words, gotta hold your mouth right when you hook everything up).

Tow dollies are expensive, trailers are expensive and even the tow thingy that goes directly on the front of your car to tow it with all four wheels on the ground are expensive. From our research, I would suggest, at the very minimum, a tow dolly. I think that is where we are headed.

Good luck. Maybe we will see you at a MINI gathering or on the road with your MINI!!

PS Hubby just told me that the tow thingy that you have to mount to the front of the MINI will mess up the performance of the "crumple zones", affecting the "crash worthiness" of the MINI.

Not being a RV kinda guy, I'm wondering where you would hook up the MINI to be towed from the front... and I do think that the manual says not to do a flat tow... I'm with sportech, i'd flatbed it..
