Countryman Love

Seems like there alot of posts slagging the CM on here, of course from my experiance on forums alot of people with problems hunt down the particular forum to vent their fustration.

I want to hear who absolutely LOVES their car regardless of any little issues, if any.

My opinion after having a CM for a year.

- This is by far the most interesting car I have ever owned, 32 yrs old and have had about 30 cars thus far. Great combination of sport and luxury, feels like a real solid car.

- Outstanding service from the dealer, get treated great. After they noticed my windhhield cracked they made the apointment and even came and took my car to have the windshied replaced, brought it back and it was an insurance job, nothing to do with them.

- Dealer supports Mods.

-My kids love it.

- Fun to drive

- Best thing....my wife loves it, happy wife....happy life.

Will buy another Mini soon.

Well I've got a few years on you, 43, and this is the most fun I've had driving. Only thing close was my 67' Mustang, that had a great "cool" factor also. My kids dig this car and I like that even with all the sales they have going its still not going to be in every driveway, which was one of the draws for me. I hope MINI continues to sell well and be profitable for them, but without turning into a mainstream vehicle. Love my CMS.

I love my CMS all4 - best car I've had in a long time. Ranks with my 1977 Triumph Spitfire (used but fun) and my 1969 VW Beetle (used but quirky). I think I'll be a Mini-lifer.

I just got my 2012 Pure Red CMS last week and I can honestly say that at 40 years old this is the best car I've ever purchased. Although, it is the only car I've ever purchased! (All previous cars were hand-me-downs, and then I've lived carless in Manhattan for the past 15 years).

I will confess that my first hand me down was a '66 Mustang and I do have a lot of affection for that car (which was unfortunately totaled long ago). That car certainly had more power, but was pretty heavy. And being a '66 very light on the features!

And while I haven't owned cars, I've rented plenty in recent years. My wife and I were also Zipcar users for a while, so we've spend time in recent Mazdas, Priuses and even the occasional Mini Hardtop (and twice in a Mini Convertible - oh, and once in a Fiat 500 Convertible). I think that's how we got attached to the Mini brand, but I couldn't see us actually purchasing a car quite that small. The fact that we're only willing to afford one car meant that it needed to be a perfect all around car. And the Countryman is that.

What I find interesting is that people tend to diss the 'driving experience' of the Countryman, and I've spend enough time in Justa Hardtops that I can say that the Countryman S is more fun to me. Never driven a S Hardtop, or any sort of JCW (I sat in a JCW Coupe at the dealer) or Clubman (I tried out the back seats once). I will confess the Justa Countryman seemed a little sluggish to me, which is the reason we got the S. But there's all types in this world. One of the biggest plusses with the Mini is that the customization possible makes it pretty likely you'll get the car that makes you happy. And if it's a Countryman, then the people in the back seat will be happy too!

My daughter and one of her friends in the neighborhood needed to be at school early for some extra Chemistry work, normally my wife has taxi duty but I was home so said I'd handle it. Her friend hadn't seen a countryman and was going on/on about how cool it was, etc. I could tell my daughter was thinking it was neat that her dad had the "cool" car. 2 teenage girls telling the old guy his car is cool, priceless. :-) of course they did make sure to drop the work cute about a zillion times, but it doesn't bother me as I hear it often.

I love my CM. now at 18 months and 39,000kms. I have two issues with it that were dealt with promptly.

This is my favourite car to drive, I am 47 and I think I enjoy the cm more than any other car I have driven. I usually switch cars every two years, but I am definitely keeping the cm.

It is fun to drive, unusual, surprisingly roomy and I just love the look.

I'm not going to say I love the CM, but I appreciate several attributes:
- All4 in a MINI
- Acceptable gas mileage given All4 and the overall performance
- Practicality
- Reliability - 10 months / 12k miles and zero trips to the dealer and no recall letters
- Easy to customize / upgrade
- It gets looks and pointed fingers (the quad Hella driving lights and blackout might be a factor.)

I prefer to drive my 02 330ci convertible or 07 650i coupe and if I had to pick one of my current cars that I love, I would have to say it's the 3 series convertible. I special ordered it and took delivery in Munich, and ten years later it has been bullet proof and still looks great.

As far as the gone and missed cars, that would go to my 88 325i convertible. It was my first convertible, it was beautiful, the color combo was awesome (Cirrus blue paint, navy blue leather and navy blue top), and now it's practically a classic. I sold it when I got the 330, but wish I had kept it.

I do like my CM, it is fun to drive (though not the most fun car I own) and it does its job of being an entertaining, practical, efficient daily driver fairly well. It is certainly unique, and I get a lot of positive comments on it. My son loves to ride in it, and the price was right. It is very comfortable and has a lot of space inside relative to the exterior size.

EXCEPT, one of the main requirements of being a good daily driver is reliability, and my CM has been the most unreliable car I have ever owned. Mine was towed to the dealer this morning after leaving me stranded last night. If it wasn't for this, the car would be perfect:

Had ours since March 2011, one of the best, least problematic cars we have had(and we have had quite a few)! Will be passing this one onto my 16 year old daughter, who loves it, and is learning to drive with it....as I will be seriously looking at the Paceman......so, yes, we love our Countryman!

Awesome!

I am 42 and without a doubt this is the most fun, entertaining, best drive, car I have ever purchased. I have never laughed so much in my car with my friends who point out different things they like about it. I have never received so many positive comments on a car before, especially my white turbo fan wheels and the cool interior ambient lighting!

2200 miles, 2 months, no problems! As the Mission Control option says on the MINI Connected system: BE MINI!

Hey you guys all drive CMS? Anyone drives CM without S? I am getting a CM soon. I want to have three seats in the back and also I like the look of the CM better. I know its horse power is significantly less and I am wondering how that will influence the performance and reliability. So I would love to hear people with CM not just CMS. Thanks to all!

Nope, mine is a Justa CM.....easier to do your own DIY oil change, no engine fires, etc.....

Love my non-turbo Countryman. I think it looks a bit more posh. Performance is great! Just be sure and put premium fuel or it will feel very sluggish. The sport button adds even more responsiveness, I almost always have it on. I test drove the turbo and didn't care for the lag or louder engine. I also didn't get sport suspension because I wanted a more compliant ride for daily commute. I checked every other option and am very happy.

Love my Justa CM. I am actually excited to drive places. I used to hate running errands for the Mrs in the old 03 Civic, now I look for excuses to go places and try to find the longest route to get there

If you are coming from a more powerful car or something with a turbo you might miss the power, but its great for what my wife calls my "old man" style of driving :-) I did take it up to 90 on 64 once, though

I have had my CMS for 2 weeks now and have already logged 2100 miles. I have owned many cars so far in my 40 years(50+ cars). I am a VW nut by heart but after seeing the CMS at British Invasion, I had to test drive one. I was hooked! I have already started to mod it and this car just keeps getting better! I might have found a new car brand...

i never even test drove a justa cm because the top requirement on my new car list was 4wheel/all wheel drive

in fact the only mini i have ever driven is a cms all4

I still miss a handful of things about my 2003 MCS, but overall I like the CM a lot. Really I wish MINI had made an AWD Clubman, since I didn't really want a bigger car. Oh well, I'm modding the hell out of it and it gets more enjoyable to drive all the time. The AWD is a blast on snow and dirt roads.

BE MINI is the one thing I don't miss on my iPHONE 5 hiatus from Connected It was cool the first month, now I am just annoyed with it. Love the rest of Mission Control...... Not sure why it is annoying me, mostly when the woman says it... Maybe it is her.

I received my '12 CMS in January, and I've been nothing but happy with it. I'm 40, and this has been the most enjoyable car I've owned.
It's just the right size for what we were looking for. We took another couple out to dinner this past weekend. They were comfortable in the back, and raved about the car for the whole drive.
My wife loves it,(Bonus!)and I've had no problems. I even find my self looking forward to my morning drive. I do still wonder if I should have gone for the All4, but otherwise I love my Countryman.
