Aftermarket mud flap help

I searched and searched and I can't find the thread I'm looking for. Someone put aftermarket rally-style flaps on their MINI and I want to know how they mounted them.
I found a thread where MiniPollak put some on, but he hasn't been on here in months, so I can't ask him.
Here are the ones I'm interested in: http://http://www.rallyarmor.com/sto...ogo-p-274.html

All the times I've mounted mudflaps before, they've gotten screwed to the flange where your fender wraps into the wheel well. My R56 only has a 1/4" flange, not big enough to screw to and the inner fender doesn't seem that sturdy.

Anyone have flaps like these?

I put them on my r53! I bought the universal rally armor flaps from rally sport direct I think they were 20$, if you buy a specific kit for like a Sti or something, they charge like 110 or something outrageous but I think there made of a better stiff rubbery material. after a long time of getting them all equal distance from the ground I screwed then in with self tapping screws. I was at the dragon in may and had them on, looks great and they functioned well! I'm not sure how well they'll work with a r56 but for 20$ its worth a shot in my opinion

At first I also didn't think mud flaps could work in my wheel Wells buy they screwed down tight and the flaps were flexible so I could get them to bend correctly. Theyrr made of a hard plastic so they dont "flap" but thin enough that theyre flexible

Just get the stock ones. If not, I think they are called rally guard or something like that.

Thanks guys

Roosey, any chances you could snap a quick pic of how you mounted them? I can't imagine they changed the design of the fenders THAT much. I might be able to attach mine the same way as you.

Porthos, I thought about the stock ones, but I like the look of the rally style ones and want the extra coverage that they provide.

sadly i cant take any pictures because i traded the car in on another r53...i plan on another set of the same flaps in the future but my rear diffuser might cause that some issues.

pretty much i just screwed the flaps on to the plastic inner fender lining. in the front it was extremely easy just because how the plastics shaped(pretty flat and used one screw to attach it to the side skirt as well) but in the rear the flaps had a little curve to them...not bad by any means but just because of the way the lining is rounded. overall they looked great and like you said the extra coverage of the rally style flaps helped amazing considering i had kuhmo's V710 tires thatd throw rocks all down the side of my car.

Were you at the Dragon? If so I liked your MINI. I loved the cage and the exhaust note a lot.

Hey is there any chance you could throw up a link to the flaps you had there are so many online and most of them look to be sti/wrx specific and are like 60 bucks.

Ok so I think I may have found them but a few questions still...

Yours are not the Urethane ones? but are they the "basic" ones or the "basic plus" flaps?

And how well do they stay in their shape if you bend them a little? or do they snap back after a while?

I think he is talking about the same ones that are in the link in my first post. They are less than $20 for 4 of them.
If they are the material I think they are, I was thinking a little heat would help mold them into the shape I want.

Heat? what do you mean? like did you torch them once you had them bent the way that you wanted them or is it less subtle?

sorry i didnt see this untill now but yes at first they were rounded because of the rear mini wheel well but using LIGHT heat with a heat gun they were easier to bend and straightened them out as best as i could. (be careful, and once again VERY LIGHT HEAT) dont go burning your car to the ground over some 20$ flaps!

Goodluck Josh4285 youll love them!

post some pics when your done!!!

thanks! im not above doing this stuff myself but as you can see the weather sucks, and i have no garage so ill gladly pay someone to do it. the fronts could be out a little more on the sides but no complaints, i really like the way they look. small warning watch how low you mount them the fronts scrape just a tad if i hit a sweeping bump in the road.

I know they'll scrape. I put these on my wrx last winter and had them about 2" off the ground. But for $15 and a cleaner car I was ok with that.

Be nice or we'll come out there and put a set on your Mini while you sleep!

Josh: Love em! I've been too busy to even order mine yet. How did he mount them? Couple screws?
