Possible Purchase of a 2013 MCS.

I am looking into buying a 2013 MCS. I have the option of either going to St. Louis MINI or Baron MINI of Merriam, KS. I also plan on financing with MINI Select.

I was wondering who has had experience with either. Do you recommend any of the MA's?

Is there room to negotiate the price at these dealerships? If you've bought a MINI from them, how much did you get off of your MINI?

How did you talk them down?
Anything else you would suggest?

I worked with Mark Eversgerd of MINI STL, and got good service through ordering and status updates during the build, very enjoyable. Along with a lot of patience...I had four visits and two test drives before ordering, along with an hour+ demo of MINI Connected one morning (I passed on it, since I'm Android 50% of the time, not iPhone, others here have found it very useful).

I did not do much work towards a great "deal", per se, with just one dealer in STL (that's true of Baron, also, in KC) a lot of the usual pit-one-against-the-other tactics aren't particularly useful. As well, in ordering, you don't have the advantage of taking a long-lingering car from the lot (the "what would it take to get you in *this* car *today*?" atmosphere doesn't really apply). They helped me out some on the JCW kit installed price, and MINI offered 0.9 financing, so I had / have no purchase regrets.

I haven't had service experience with them yet, other than getting my roof checkers and JCW tuning kit installed before delivery (both done perfectly). Their parts guys offer a 10% discount to STL MINI Club members, that's helped on the couple of doses of oil change supplies I've bought so far (I'm old school, not really trusting 15,000 mile oil change intervals, and can do my own, so I did one after break-in, and at 7500 miles).

Happy hunting!

Thanks!

I have talked to MA's at both dealerships just test driving them and all that jazz.. When I talked to a STL MA they told me I could get my oil changed at the KS dealership since the maintenance warranty went through MINI and not the dealerships.

When I was at the KS dealership about a month ago, I talked to an MA who told me he would give me about $1000 off MSRP if I ordered. Of course if I took a car off their lot I would get an even greater discount, but that was before they got 2013 models in and they didn't have much of an inventory that I liked.

I would like to maybe get a little bit more off MSRP and a tint job.

I do plan on changing the oil every 7-7.5k. There is no way I'm letting my MINI go 15k without an oil change. That is a bit.. disastrous in the long run.
