VIP Driver lights kit.. I give up!

Iv got an 06 Cooper S .. Iv also got the VIP driver light kit (not the bar) the two bracket set. Not a problem mounting all the hardware.

I got this kit a while back probably 2 years maybe? The wireing instructions were/are terrible and never installed it. Iv since installed HIDs in a few cars and can follow good instructions very well... so I figured i would pull those lights out and try hooking it up again.

I looked everywhere online ... i cant find anything that really tells you where the wires go! i get a bunch of PDFs with mostly hardware installation and a few "hook it up to the brights" ect.... problem is... the wireing harness VIP gives me in the kit... I have no idea ... im just lost.. I give up. im swallowing my pride and deciding im an idiot! hahaha...

Heres what I want. Im probably not ever really going to use them... hell iv had them installed on my car for 2 years just for looks haha never have worked. That being said ... I just want them to come on when I turn the switch on. Thats it. nothing fancy. simple wire diagram how to would be great... I dont know why i can figure it out. I think the homemade wireing harness that came with the kit is confusing me big time!...

I promise I searched this Forum to try to find something but couldnt find anything other than stuff showing how to get through firewall... where to run wires... ect... but not how to actually wire them! If i missed it..please link me!

Thanks!

Here is a link for the OEM install instructions. Won't be exactly the same, but should be close enough. You really do want them hooked up to the high beams. Otherwise you'll likely blind oncoming drivers while hunting for the 'off' switch.

Basic concept -
Get power
Run power to relay
Run switch to relay
Tap into high beam wire to energize relay
Run wires from switch to lights, ground lights

Those instructions are specific to the OEM kit with its wiring harness that connects to the BCM and engine compartment fuse box. I think it would cause more confusion than help. It would be better to look at installation instructions from other aftermarket kits.

this picture is for wiring horns but the basic circuit is correct

the horns become your lights

the steering wheel is your switch, usually a simple on off toggle

terminal 86 is your relay power - if you take this straight to power you can use your lights whenever you want, if you (can identify and) take it to the high beam trigger, they will only come on with the highs. Take it to switched poer if you want the lights to always go off with the ignition (cig' lighter works)

common place to get the battery power is the big lead feeding the engine compartment fuse box, the big terminal at the back end.

This is the basic picture - there are variations but this is the basics . . .

I would not recommend using the factory kit as a guide because it has several extra wires. But it CAN help you find the high beam trigger in the pass' side kick panel . . .
