R50/53 I want a MINI!
Hi, everyone, I'm new here and really want a MCS (indi blue). I test drove one a few weeks ago--it was a great way to learn to drive a stick
and an amazing drive.
I'm planning to go to test drive one again this weekend. Taking my husband this time. I can't wait!
So, any advice for a newbie? How much should I expect to pay? I've noticed that some dealerships are selling at MRP. I'm willing to wait (for a little while, at least--while I get my finances in order). There's no dealership within 150 miles, so I'm going to have to drive anyway.
Thanks!

First off, Welcome to NAM! You'll have a blast here, and there are a bunch of great people here to help you out. Any questions, just ask...someone will more than likely have the answer!
As far as price, you can more than likely expect to pay MSRP for a brand-spankin'-new car. I got mine at sticker, after a two-month wait after ordering. My closest dealer is about 100 miles, but my selling dealer is about 225 miles away. When I need service, I think of it as a chance to spend 450 miles with my car! lol

Indy Blue is a terrific color, specially with a contrasting white roof. This color will be discontinued next year, so think of it as a soon to become collector's item. The MCS is a fantastic car. If you have any questions (I own 2 MINIs, a '02 Cooper CVT and '04 MCS) feel free to shoot them up this way. I have plenty experience with these cars and can give you pointers and suggestions when placing your order for your new MINI.
Anyway, welcome to NAM and have fun while deciding...that's just the beginning!

You can check inventory online from various dealers, locating them on Miniusa.com. Then make a call. Many dealers on east coast sell at msrp and you can order right away for custom build. Let your fingers do the walking. I'm in SoCal and ordered from Pittsburgh Pa
Welcome to NAM!
You can expect to pay MSRP. The exceptions will be in CA, where markup is still common, and Classic MINI, who discounts a bit.
Take a look around here, use the [search] function, but remember that we're a tough crowd, sometimes we point out the imprefections that the average Motorist wouldn't care about
The MINI is an awesome car, and a huge bang for the buck.
Good luck, and Motor-On!

i would also like to welcome you to nam and the mini family. most of us here love the mini and some love it more than anything else. im glad to hear that you will become a mini owner soon. make sure you wave and say hi to everyone else. what part of the country are you in. mcs brg lots of mods.
Welcome to NAM as these forums, vendor offerings, marketplace sales... will provide you with multiple opinions on any subject that will require your personal effort to sort out fact or fiction, most of it is fact and has helped in my mod efforts.
Go for a MCS, you will not regret the motoring experience. Note: Last night while searching for MCS parts on e-Bay there were ~35 new MINIs for sale. Many appear to be a great bargain over new, value to price.
Good Luck,

Welcome to the tribe iyellow,
Congratulations on your choice of color, the most intelligent of all MINI owners drive IB cars.
MSRP is generally the price you should expect to pay, but beware of some dealer's hidden expenses like obligatory options that you may not want. When you check with an MA question them on the issue, also check in the dealer rating system noted in the features menu to the left of the screen (you must be logged on to see it). And as stated above, IB will soon become a collector's only color
so act quickly and get your '04 ordered.

I also paid MSRP, but I haven't any buyer's remorse whatsoever. If you do have the patience to weather the 2 – 3 month wait, you can order your mini with exactly the options that you want. You might want to try and hook up with a local club and go to an event to see what the other owners have done with their options so you can see them first hand.

this is my EXACT color combo and now you are telling me that it might be gone --
for when -- the 2005 or the 2006?
this may impact my decision to get this car faster that i thought....

Peep. yep its true, at least from what I have been able to gather from other "reputable" MINI sources suchas motoringfile.com (Gabe Bridger's site) and MINI2.com.
Indy Blue will be discontinued for the '05 model year and replaced with a slightly different kind of blue shade, but I have no idea what the color will look like.
So I guess that if you want a new IB MINI, this is the time to jump ship and get it.

It definitely weighed on my decision to order as soon as I did. I had originally planned to wait until fall for the '05, but then I heard IB was going away and I HAD TO HAVE ONE!!!
If you can get it, do... no blue shade I've ever seen on a car looks quite so "deep" and crystal-like.... very, very nice in the sunshine!
