2009 -> 2012 Nave Update?

Just picked up a 2009 with the nav option. The seller mentioned that there was an update available through the dealership for $200 while under warranty ($400 off).

Would this just be new maps or also added functionality? Can this be done independent of the dealer?

Thanks!

This would be a map update only. no extra functionality and in the case of the 2009 it would be in the form of a DVD.

I would also like to mention that the 200 dollars is the going price. There is no 400 dollars off. It is crazy enough being 200 let alone a possible 600.

The $400 was the total price mentioned once the car was off warranty. Bad grammar and spelling (nave?) on my part.

It's available to anyone directly for $199.

Once I put my zipcode in I get it for $169, so it must be based on regions.

Definitely the cost is $200 with or without warranty. I know, i had to extend my warranty and the DVD Drive had to be replaced. They only replaced the drive and said the upgraded maps were not included.

There is no upgraded functionality. You will get update on POI, maps, and misc info. Good luck.

I wonder when the 2013 update will come out though. Mercedes, Honda, Ford, & Navteq have released theirs.

The map updates have been late in the past. However, with the maps being put out by TomTom now, we may see delivery sooner. Are any of the others you mentioned also backed by TomTom?
