"Tux" arrived yesterday looking very dapper in her Black and White Tuxedo. I have a few questions....

1) Premium gas is a must for the Cooper????

2) Recommendations on keeping her "clean" what products are best for the different parts of the car?

3) Any suggestions for a "must do" mod for the interior?

I have been having a blast driving...i'm in love! Thanks in advance!

04' PW/B MC

I think the general consensus was that premium IS required.

Must-do interior mods...the parcel shelf is top on my list.

Congrats

Premium gas is always a good bet.

zaino is hands down the best for the outside of your car

A lot of people get the euro parcel shelf. I myself haven't, I have to trim the extra "ounces" off for autocrossing.

The parcel shelf looks cool. For anyone that has it: Does it hit your knees or anything when you drive? And is it easy to install?

Well uk there has it all summed up.

The prodicts here at North American Car Care are also quite excellent in my opinion, and I have been missing my parscel shelf so bad since I gave it to a friend as thanks for a favor.

Oh, and it's easier to install than the piece that is there already and gives you MORE LEGROOM!

Way to go Dice!

Premium yes!

Love Zaino, but lately am being won over to Meguiars NXT. Cheaper, eaiser to find, easier to apply and produces great shine. Klasse all in one on plastic trim and glass. Get a California duster and some microfiber towels.

Best mod. Upgrade the loose nut behind the wheel by going to a High Performance Driving School. Best bang for the buck, and you will have the time of your life.

Enjoy your new baby

To add to asodestrom's list - water blade, 100% cotton mitts, boars hair brush, toothbrushes/horsehair brushes, a detail spray like Meguiar's #34 and separate buckets for wash and rinse water.

I would get the glove box organizer as well.

Third buckets to caryy all the stuff in and leave the other two for washing and rinse waters.

Choose from items listed in previous posts. I received a Meguiars' kit for Christmas and so far I really like their products. I used the wax today for the first time on my PW/B MC and the pure inky blackness of the roof is truly mesmerizing…

Get a digital camera. You're going to be taking lots of pictures.

Enjoy!

First, CONGRATS Dice-gal on getting your MINI!

Second... where do you get all these interior mods? I need new goodies to look at!

Congrats on the MINI ... classy color combo!!!

My recommendation, if you are in a rainy state ... change the crappy windshiled wipers to some silicon blades. Best upgrade I did so far.

Congrats on Tux's arrival!!! My take on your questions...

>>1) Premium gas is a must for the Cooper????
Nothing less...

>>2) Recommendations on keeping her "clean"
I wash often and use a duster in between. When in doubt, go to the car wash. As for products...my opinion...study the products at North American Car Care. Options are out there, but I've gone to this vendor for convenience and quality. I use 303 Protectant on the plastic bits....Klasse for the painted bits (...but that's just me). Get good microfiber products...don't scrimp.

>>3) Any suggestions for a "must do" mod for the interior?
For me...glove box organizer only. I hate clutter and, since all my stuff is in the glove box, the organizer keeps things from falling out. A true "must do" from a minimalist.

>>I have been having a blast driving...i'm in love!
That's really super...have fun!!!!!

I use Mother's products, but swear by Meguiar's Quik Detailer for touch-up between washes. I tried several of the same type products, but this is the best for removing dust and light dirt without streaking, and can be applied if the car is hot or cold.

1. I have only used 93 octane since buying the car; no point in cutting back here.

2. I also installed the parcel shelf. Love it! It's a great place to keep driving gloves, credit card reciepts, speeding tickets, etc. I was able to velcro my garage door opener above the shelf itself to the right of the steering wheel - a very convient and out of the way spot. Since when I bought the shelf it didn't come w/ any directions, I would reccomend taking a look at http://www.thelivingoods.com/mini/ParcelShelf/ for some step by step photos. Also absolutly no compromise in leg room.

3. I am also a fan of the Whalen Machine shift ****. Mine is polished and inscribed w/ the shift pattern. Looks much slicker than the original and feels better but you really need to drive w/ gloves on cold winter days to keep your hand from freezing onto the ****! Also installed a center console/arm rest... mostly to get a little the storage space - I could go either way onb this mod

I only use 93 octane. I've never used less octane.
Be careful when you get in the pit. Some gas dealer has premium with 92 octane. You need to check it out first especially while traveling.

I know many people use Zaino, but I use Zymol. It lasts amazingly longer than I expected. Please try it.

Interior stuff,,,
I love my Whalen Shift ****. It's really cool and I guarantee you get better shift feeling.

Happy Motoring!

I liked the retro look of the chrome rings for the instruments and vents
