2009 S: High Pressure Fuel Pump Replaced Today

I got my Mini 2009 S (automatic transmission) in September 2009. I have driven it only for about 7K so far. I rarely drove it on highways.

Last week, after a three-hour trip on the highway, the check engine light turned on.

I brought my car to the dealer. They replaced the high pressure fuel pump without explaining fully why that pump was not functioning. They did say I have a two-year warranty for that new pump.

I read a lot of posts talking about HPFP. Is this a normal problem? Should I expect another replacement in a couple of years? And I did not receive any R56 High Pressure Fuel Pump Warranty Extension note from Mini as some people mentioned.

I would love to hear your experience and opinion. I really do not want to worry about engine-related problems for my Mini. Also I only drove about 7K. It never came to my mind that something will be wrong with my Mini.

Thanks.

7000 miles on a 2009?

Wow! That's all I can say. Sorry I can't add anymore.

Some have yet to fail and some failed early on, hard to say what'll happen in the future but if I were you I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

What should you do? Stop worrying about it, live in the moment, drive your MINI, and have fun! Yes, the HPFP is an issue and you got it fixed. Motor on

Honestly it might be a factor of dumb luck. My 2007 MCS HPFP lasted 95k before failing on a road trip. Happily Desert MINI of Las Vegas sorted me out.

Now I'm working through a P2885 issue.....

Thank you all for your reply.

I will stay cool. And think of some long distance trip I can drive.

Recently had HPFP replaced on my 2008S with 47K miles, under extended warranty which I was told was good for 10 years/120K miles. Here's link to
