Replace Gas Door with Cap

I just got my 2007 Cooper S Convertible and it has the gas door cover. I was wondering is there a way to remove it and replace it with a Gas Filler Cap. Like this one.

Thanks

The difference between the R52/57 and the R50/53/etc. is structural. The cabrio has different body and bracing structure than the coupé. A coupé type cap is not an option the the cabrio. One advantage though is that when you lock up, the filler cover locks as well.

Actually, instead of worrying about the fuel door assembly, you should be worrying about whether what you are doing at any given time could be time better spent motoring with the top down.

I just got the car, but I have had the top down 90% of time so far.

Good on ya! People are used to seeing mine down and often ask if it is down during extremes of temperature. I always respond with astonishment: "What? It goes up???"

The official Mini chrome cap does not fit a R52 (your model). This is what I did years ago on my 2006. It adheres on top of the current gas door.

Sorry I cannot remember the vendor.
