Whenever i start the Mini and get out to open the rear hatch the damn thing is locked. I then have to turn off the car and pull the key out and hit the rear hatch button, how can i change this setting if possible. Is there a rear hatch button somewhere in the car? Thanks

 

if all the doors are unlocked the hatch should be unlocked as well. try hitting the door lock/unlock switch inside the car while its on. If that doesn't work you may have a problem.

 

MCDude, when i hit the key fob twice then the hatch stays unlocked until the mini is put into gear. Thanks for the info.

 

If you don't want to press the button twice, you can program your fob to unlock all doors (including the hatch) with one press. It's one of the options using the button at the end of the blinker stalk.

Does that work with the 08 too? Ours has been erratic the last year or so.
