Had same thing with my FSD install (on the drivers side only).
I ended up using a jack to lightly put pressure on pinch assembly
from below on the wheel hub and used an allen wrench in the space
of the pinch assembly (insert and twist) then wedged a flat tip, then
a larger allen. This slowly worked the strut onto the pinch bolt assembly.
BE CAREFULL doing this and I would recommend face shield and or safety
google just in case. The strut did kinda pop pop pop slowly and it was
a little nerve racking.............Good luck.

Well that unfortunately that didnt work, it gave me a great idea though i put the wheel back on, lined up the shock and dropped the cars weight on it, it seemed to free it somehow? thanks!

Good idea. Sounds like it was easier than what I did too.

i actually had little problems with my fsd's when installing them. Went in smoothly.
However, I have in previous circumstances removed and re-installed my stock suspension, and to get it back on I always had to grease, and then hammer them back on.
Would get the pinch-bolt piece just on the bottom and then took a soft blow hammer to the bottom of the pinch assy and slowly worked it onto the shock.

usually i avoid hammering shocks, I put a Jack under the outer ball joint and use that for leverage.
