In responding to "Have you joined the $10K upgrade club yet?," I tabulated what I've invested in my little MINI. With the cost of the car and all the mods, the grand total came to be $39,883.

Thanks to all the great ideas and details how-to write-ups, I went completely nuts with mods and managed to keep myself busy since the delivery of the car in mid-January. Although I saved a lot by doing most of the installations myself, $17k+ in mods is ridiculous. I really need help!

Has anyone reached $40k mark?

Prestige MINI has a spec Cooper (not even an S). Cooper Works, and a bunch of other stuff. $39,9-something.

I think that I might be after this week. I'm afraid to add up all the expenses.

Cheers,

Prestige has a Cooper for $39K??? How can it have a JCW package when that's not even a US option? I know I've seen a JCW MCS up there with White Superleggerras for $37K though...

On the Hawaii Front, I believe Minihune, kbseto and HI-MINI have joined the $10k club. Minihune is the founding member of the Hawaii Chapter. It's a good thing Mrs Minihune doesn't peek in the garage.

Just read about upgrades in this thread-

It's easy to spend $1000 more on lighter 17" wheels/tires.
Labor costs for all upgrades can run pretty high.
In my area shipping costs are high- I've spent way over $500 in shipping.
Audio/video upgrades run from $1000 to $2500 and up with high end systems about $4000 to $6000+
Brake upgrades are about $1000 for stage one upgrades installed and $2900+ for big brakes/rear brakes
Appearance body kits installed and painted run about $2000 to $3000+
Full suspension mods run about $1000 to $2500 installed.
Pulley and ECU installed is about $1000-1100.
Quaife limited slip differential installed is about $2000 and add another $500 for light flywheel
Exhaust Header/Cat-back exhaust is about $1800+ installed
Larger intercooler is about $1100
And the list goes on and on.
Right now I am working on a custom Dash-price not determined.

If you have a MCS then it is really easy to add $5000 to $10,000 in upgrades.
If you do high end upgrades then it is easy to spend $15,000 or more.
One of the MCS in my area got up to about $50,000 mostly due to custom work and things done by the dealer.

Thanks peter,
That is an Xtreme MINI. I guess if you hang around high end audio upgrade shops and hear about the $20,000 to $30,000 someone spent on upgrades for audio alone then you start to think this is not bad to get all that in a MINI for $25,600.

I wonder what would happen if you spent $6000 on driving school and kept your MINI stock?

I bet you might keep up with a highly modded MINI somewhere out there.

Dealers are known for charging an arm and a leg for their labor. Hence, I try to do everything myself. The $ I saved can be used toward purchasing of more MINI parts.
